The Power of Music
Here is one of my favorite 'uplifting' songs by the amazing group, The Piano Guys. I really hope you enjoy listening to it! It is called It's Gonna be OKAY.
Perhaps you would like to write a reflection about this song or draw a picture about how it made you feel.

Hope you all have a nice weekend!

Notice how the dynamics change (p, f) and how the tempo (speed) changes as well throughout the song. Enjoy!
Question - What does tr mean?

Music Room Update
Grade 1 and 2
The grade ones and twos just had their Winter concerts last week. They were incredible. The students practiced so hard and were super excited to share this with their families and friends. Thanks for coming out and showing your support. They made me very proud and I feel very fortunate to teach such wonderful and talented children!!
Grade 3 and 4
The grade threes and fours have been learning about our 'composer of the month' Tchaikovsky. We have been studying music from 'The Nutcracker' and learning about form and using body percussion and movements to figure out how the music is organized. We have been learning about different instruments of the orchestra including the clarinet, trumpet and french horn. We have also been playing the Boomwhackers to some favorite seasonal songs.
Kindergarten
The kindergarten students have also been listening to music from 'the Nutcracker' by Tchaikovsky. They have continued to explore the beat and learning about body percussion to show how the music is organized. They learned about a new instrument called the celesta and are beginning to learn about other instruments of the orchestra. They have also continued to play non-pitched instruments (hand drums, tick-tock blocks, etc.) to help develop their understanding of basic rhythms and literacy skills. We learned the song 'Time for Toys' and also played a fun game called 'Jack-in-the-Box'.
