What's up in Music? 🎵

🎵  Kindergarten - We have been having lots of fun in the music room. We have been learning some fun songs, games, and poems related to the fall and Halloween. We have been using different kinds of voices (loud, soft, high, low, fast, slow) and we have started learning how to play the barred instruments! Some of our favorite songs include the 'Eency Weency Spider', 'Big Black Cats' and 'Hickory Dickory Dock'!

🎵  Grade 1 - We have been learning about beat and rhythm (ta, ti-ti, tika-tika and rest) We have been learning lots of fun songs, games and poems related to the fall and Halloween including 'Witches Brew' and '5 Little Pumpkins'. We are learning to play lots of instruments including the xylophones and glockenspiels. We have also begun learning our songs for our Winter Concert which will be on Dec. 12.

🎵  Grade 2 - We have continued to learn about beat, rhythm and pitch. We have also been learning some fun songs, games and poems including 'Charlie over the Ocean' and 'Trick of Treat'. We have started playing the barred instruments and have begun learning songs for our Winter Concert which will be on Dec. 10. We are working on developing our singing voices.

🎵  Grade 3 - We have been learning about the famous composer J.S. Bach and listening to his music. We have continued rhythmic notation, being music detectives and learning about form. We have been playing lots of instruments including the xylophones, metallophones and glockenspiels. We have also been introduced to the Boomwhackers! So much fun! The grade 3 students have also been busy preparing for their Halloween assembly which will be on Oct. 31 at 9am and 1pm. Can't wait!

🎵  Grade 4 - We have been learning about the famous Baroque composer J.S. Bach and listening to his compositions. We have continued rhythmic notation, learning about form and working on our singing technique. We have been learning some fun songs/poems including 'Only in October', 'Get Down' and 'Bubblegum' which include instrumental parts and ostinato parts. The grade 4 students have also begun to learn a song in preparation for their Remembrance Assembly on Nov. 8 at 10:30am.

🎵  Grade 4 choir - The choir performed for the Board of Trustees on Oct. 22. The choir did a wonderful job and really represented Saddle Ridge School well. Thank you choir members for your hard work and dedication. Our choir will be singing at the Remembrance Day Assembly on Nov. 8 at 10:30am.

Music update October 7, 2019

The Saddle Ridge Grade 4 choir have begun their practices. We are very excited about that! 

Kindergarten and Grade 1 music - The students have been learning about the season of Autumn through songs, movement and poems. We love our poem 'Two Little Apples' and moving to the songs 'Slippery Fish' and 'Let's Play a Statue Game'. We have continued to explore beat and have learned about the woodblock and tambourine! So much fun!

Grade 2-4 music - The students have been learning/reviewing rhythm and notation  (ta, ti-ti and rest). We have begun to explore some instruments in the music room including the xylophones, metallophones and glockenspiels. We are learning about form and how music is organized. We have also learned more about one of our favorite composers, Vivaldi, and his famous composition called 'The Four Seasons'.
